On a non-cleansing note.....how to be a bad ass

friday night i went out with my friend allie. We went to the Undergroud Lounge which is a small club.bar in Wrigleyville. Well on the way i realized i have no idea where my wallet was. Luckily I had cash in my pocket but no ids. I decided to carry on anyways which is good, because I became badass of the night for two reasons.

1. I double parked, paralleled that motherfucker sideways, ie I fit my saturn ion into a spot that it was not made to fit into. Lets just say my back and front bumper made love that night.

2. No id, usually means no entrance to the 21+ club, that means nothing to me apparently. There was a guy standing by the door on his cell phone. The thought came across my mind that he was the bouncer but i wasn't sure. I wasn't going to ask. So I just power walked right in, and went downstairs. Well I guess that guy was the bouncer because he stopped Allie and asked for id and money.

And that is my night as a badass... no id, no money, no spot.... no problem

Update!!!

so sorry for the lack of updates.

So after two days of soups and liquids, I switched to whole foods. I didn't break the cleanse, just intertwined (or started a new one). She suggested if the liquids were too hard for you to handle then switch the karma cleanse which is more salad base (and whole fruit based) which is much more my style. I didn't exactly give up, just looked at the situation and fit it better to my life style and what I could handle.

After I'm done with this cleanse, I'm switching to the one day a week cleanse. I think it's good to give my body a internal boost every week.

Another thing I picked up was this: Bentonite Clay  I have to try it for a week to see if i notice any differences. But click on that link and read up on it. It's something simple to do in the morning and from what i've read (from that link and others) the benefit should be rewarding.

thanks for the encouragement! it really helps me through!!

.5 days into it

So after trying my breakfast (green healer juice or something like that...) I was presently surprised it didn't suck. I had to juice celery, collard greens and cucumbers add a bit of lemon juice and cayenne pepper and it was my energized breakfast (and is used as the snack for in between breakfast and lunch). The first one went down smoothly but the second one, which i had about two hours later, was a little bit harder. It's not that I got tired of it, but i was kind of full because of all the water I've been drinking (on liter number 4 now).

While drinking my green healer snack, I started to make my soups and almond milk. The first soup is this avocado mex thing which consisted of tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, dash of hot sauce, and a couple of other things which is basically a soup version of guacamole. And if you know anything about me, I heart my guacamole. The soup turned out delish. I'm holding that one out until dinner.

The second is this greens based soup. Spinach, sprouts, avocado, tomatoes, and a bunch of other green stuff. It's good, but no avocado mex soup.

Lastly I made almond milk. Last night i soaked the almonds in SmartWater, so they could be prepared for them today. I added coconut water to the almonds with a dash of flax seed oil and vanilla then strained it to get a super delicious  before dinner snack. mmmmm....

so far so good. but not going to lie, i'm craving pizza right now.

keep you updated!

much love

Today is the day!!!

I start my cleanse today! i'm sooo pumped. Right now as we speak i'm making my hot lemon water, so so delish. I planned out my schedule today so i know I can keep track

11am-get your ass up and make your hot lemon water!
11:45am-greens healer drink
1pm-greens healer drink
2:30pm-wheatgrass shot/choice of one soup (i'm going with the metro mex avacado soup)
some time in between- yoga and a short walk
4pm-some homemade almond milk. mmmmm...
6pm-soup of my choice (this one is going to be get back to green soup)

then of course throughout the day i have to drink 7 liters of water. And end my day with a bath. Sweet!!!

I'm nervous, excited, everything! Keep you updated!

My stomach started acting up last night, in a way where it feels like there are bubbles expanding and then compressing inside of me. I'm going to go on a limb and say that's not normal. Hence, why I'm so stoked about this cleanse.

However, there is still part of my brain that will miss my comfort foods. But, that's just it. My brain will miss them, it's all mental, and that's what I hope to overcome with this detox.

I'm off to the health store today and farmers market tomorrow.

Lastly, my friend Kristi made me aware of two semi-local businesses that can cater to all my new health needs:

1. TCF Organics is where you can order organic fruit/veggie boxes and they will deliver them to your house. You can custom them or order a pre determined produce box. I love it.

2. Country Life Natural Foods tons of health food products for every needs!

Thanks friends for the suggestions. Keep them coming! Your support is so appreciated too!

So, as I prepare for my cleanse I was told to drink a lot of water to help with the transition of the cleanse. In the book she gave some kind of equation to figure out how much you should drink a day, and mine came out to 7 liters. Seriously? 7 liters? wtf? that's a shit load of water, but I sucked it up and did it yesterday.

I started out drinking Ice Mountain and every bottle equaled 1/2 a liter. About three bottles into my water drinking day, I started to get this horrible after taste which normally comes with filtered water. So I switched to SmartWater. Smartwater is a vapor distilled water, so what that means is that it is heated up and then let to evaporate which makes all those dumb chemicals which cause that horrible aftertaste to disappear. My transition to Smartwater helped the 7 liters go down easily.

I'm starting to put a grocery list together for friday, and I decided to make two trips. 1. to a whole foods/health store and 2. to a farmers market. Luckily i get paid on wednesday, this is going to be a bit on the expensive side.

Thanks for your support! I know I'll need it!

I think I have a plan...

I can't tell you how excited I am to change my lifestyle. Like I said before I can't cut out meat completely but I can limit my choices and add more fruits, veggies, nuts, and vitamins into my day to day pattern.
But first, I wanted to do a cleanse or a detox to remove all the toxins and other shitty (ha!) stuff from my system. So I started researching because there was no way in hell I was going to do what is known as the 'master cleanse' which is basically a shittier version of lemonade (water, lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper).  So I started searching the wonder web on different books or methods to complete a cleanse.

this is what I stumbled upon...

After reading adina's bio, I learned that she knew her shit. Plus she does classes at the Cafe Gratitude in which I heard nothing but good things about. So after my trek to Borders, I purchased the book. I instantly fell in love. There are 9 different cleanses in the book and they each cater to different aspects of what you want accomplished. If you want a transition into raw foods or try it out go with the "some like it raw" cleanse. Have bags under your eyes and feel down all the time? go with the "3 day face lift" cleanse. Adina also prepares you for what you should do before and after a cleanse, and also includes meditations and exercises you can incorporate while cleansing. Plus the label doesn't disappoint, there are over 100 recipes.

So after reading through all 9, I decided I'm going to go with the "urban revitalizer" cleanse which takes place over 5 days. and she promises (of course everyone varies) "with this cleanse, you'll have renewed energy, clarity and focus and a greater sense of serenity and a restored sense of balance in your life. As you shed the stress, you'll probably shed a few pounds as well"

Ding ding, we found a winner. Sounds exactly what I need in my life right now. I have to do some grocery shopping but my plan is to start this cleanse on friday, september 12th. The reason why I picked this day, is that I go to school on tuesdays and thursdays for over 9 hours each day. Usually when you first start a cleanse you feel unease with headaches because everything is starting to flush out. I rather do that when I have most of my free time at my house (I also work on the weekends but i have access to a full kitchen with a very relaxed break style) instead of sitting for 9 hours straight in a desk.

eek! I'm stoked. I'll start sharing what I bought when I go out to the store sometime this week.

much love!
